On the evening of August 28, beneath the glow of the full moon, Playhouse Arts invites you to step into IllumiNature, a twilight spectacle from Playhouse Arts transforming the trails of Carlson Park into a magical journey of light, art, and imagination.
Join us through riverside paths led by giant puppets and glowing lanterns. Along the way, hidden artistic encounters await, from live performances and interactive installations to a grand finale featuring shadow puppetry and riverfront spectacle.

Starting May 3, the heart of downtown Ashland will be home to the Saturday Market, running every Saturday until October 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the 100 block of Oak St. This exclusive one block long market provides healthy options, fresh organic produce, artisan foods, and more every week for the locals and travelers passing through. We encourage everyone to join us in supporting local while cultivating community in Southern Oregon.

Stretch your legs in the comfort of morning temperatures while hearing the stories of the people who transformed a gold rush town into the 19th century center of regional government, commerce, and society when you join Historic Jacksonville, Inc. on one of our weekly Saturday 1-hour guided “Walk through History” tours. Tours leave from Jacksonville’s New City Hall at 10am and cover about 1 mile with multiple stops. Guests hear how gambling money built a church; how the Civil War ended a successful mercantile partnership; how a saloon housed the county’s first museum; how fire reshaped the town; and how a railroad both destroyed and preserved the town. Tours are FREE, but donations are always welcomed—all monies go towards maintaining and preserving historic buildings seen on the tour.
Come experience the history, flora and fauna of Lithia park in a guided tour led by knowledgeable and passionate volunteers.
Walks run every Saturday and Sunday morning at 10:00am, May through September. Sunday walks begin July 5.
Walks last 90 minutes, are FREE of charge, and are open to locals and visitors alike. Please meet your guide at the front entrance of Lithia Park across from the Plaza.
This program has been running since 1989, and is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in Ashland’s crown jewel.
On Saturday, August 29, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, Friends of the Redwood Libraries is holding a one-day fiction book sale at the Eureka Main Library, 1313 Third Street, Eureka. This will include a full inventory of fiction, mysteries, novels and classics; all priced at $0.50.
Payment may be made by cash or credit cards; small bills are appreciated. All proceeds benefit the entire Humboldt County Library System. For more information, visit eurekafrl.org.
Dual-resident painter and San Francisco Art Institute alum Patricia Schaefer- Robbins will debut a concurrent solo exhibitions at Nous Restaurant.
The exhibition brings a unique global perspective to Ashland’s art scene. Splitting time betweenstudios in Ashland and London, England, Schaefer-Robbins uses oil and acrylic to weave togetherbotanical themes, still life, pagan traditions, and ancient lore.
At Nous Restaurant, visitors will get an exclusive look at mythical and ritualistic works, including"Offering," and pieces from an ambitious new series of larger-scale panels exploring goddessmythology, such as "Court of the Autumn Equinox" and "Song of the Green Woods."
Get a taste of the "old West" and Jacksonville's gold mining days when you step behind the counter of the oldest financial institution in the Pacific Northwest. The 1863 Beekman Bank Museum, located at 110 W. California Street in Jacksonville, saw over $40 million in gold cross its counters during the town’s heyday in the late 1800s—the equivalent of over $1.5 billion today. Interact with costumed docents sharing stories of late 19th Century banking practices, gold shipping, and handshake deals; step behind the counter and peer in drawers containing old checks, stage schedules, and paperwork; enter the vault that stored all those millions in gold! Admission is FREE but donations are encouraged with all monies going towards the preservation and maintenance of this historic legacy!
While you learn easy and striking acrylic paint techniques to bring an amazing original flower fantasy painting to life, also enjoy an array of delightful desserts. Heidi Elliott has been teaching painting for over a decade and brings a calm, reassuring style to the classroom so that everyone can succeed.
Bring friends, family or sweethearts for more fun! Ages 9 – Adult. (Youth aged 9+ must be accompanied by an adult.) All supplies and dessert included. This class usually sells out so pre-registration is recommended. Walk-ins as space allows.
Instructor Bio: Heidi Elliott is a free-lance mixed-media artist who has taught Paint & Lunch style classes for years and encourages everyone to find a creative path. She served as Jacksonville Garden Club’s First Vice President for three years. Heidi is a Certified Morning Altars Teacher and Practitioner. She loves life here in Jacksonville and is happy to call it home.
