Now in its 35th year, this beloved Southern Oregon Coast tradition is hosted by the Cape Blanco Heritage Society. The celebration begins with an Open House on December 13. Main Street Teas will be held December 19-21. A Holiday Music Concert takes place December 20 and 21, marking the 155th anniversary of the first lighting of the Cape Blanco Lighthouse’s lamp in its first order fresnel lens on December 20, 1870.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of holiday trains at the Rogue Valley Mall again this year from the Medford Garden Railroaders. This club from the Medford Railroad Park will showcase its holiday model railroad layout on the first floor of the Rogue Valley Mall, 1600 N. Riverside Ave., Medford, near the Kohl's department store. Trains will operate from Black Friday, Nov. 28, through Dec. 31 during mall hours. Admission is free; donations are appreciated. Join Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center and Headwaters Outdoor School for a Friends & Family Nature Walk where attendees will develop a personal connection with the Earth through skills based activities including wilderness survival, tracking, nature awareness and Earth philosophy. Experience a late 1800s Christmas celebration when Historic Jacksonville, Inc. opens the 1870s Beekman House for Victorian Christmas tours. Located at 470 E. California Street and once home to the town’s wealthiest and most prominent pioneer family, the house is decorated for a 19th Century holiday. Victorian costumed docents will be sharing stories of festivities in the late 1800s along with the origins of popular Christmas traditions that settlers brought with them from all over the world. Find the good luck German pickle ornament on the Christmas tree. Steal a kiss under the mistletoe. Learn how holiday letters became Christmas cards. Hear how Santa’s appearance has changed over time. Sample one of Mrs. Beekman’s sugar cookies. One-hour tours begin every 20 minutes from 12n through 3pm.

Shows will be at The Hales Center at Southwestern Oregon Community College to showcase local talent and raise money for our summer production of "The Comedy of Errors". Siskiyou Singers' December concerts will feature the stirring harmonies of Rachmaninoff's choral masterpiece, the Vespers (also known as the All-Night Vigil) a beautiful and spiritual setting of traditional sacred texts appropriate to the season. The second half of each concert includes holiday favorites sure to leave you with a warm glow. Musicologist Ed Wight will present a free lecture about the music an hour before the Friday and Saturday concerts.

Mindy Smith took her first yoga class as a college elective and has been devoted to the practice ever since. She studied Vinyasa Yoga under renowned teacher Shiva Rea in Venice Beach, CA, and has been a full-time health education professor at West Los Angeles College since 2001. In 2008, she expanded her teaching to include semester long yoga electives for the kinesiology department.Mindy’s additional training includes prenatal and postnatal yoga, yoga for children, and Mental Health First Aid. She has led college-wide workshops on yoga, meditation, and self-care for students, staff, and faculty alike.In 2011, Mindy spent six transformative months traveling through India, where she studied Ayurveda—India’s traditional “science of life”—and deepened her understanding of yoga, breathwork, and meditation at the source. She integrates this ancient wisdom into her own teaching, creating a dynamic blend of modern science, anatomical alignment and traditional practice.
