New Exhibition - StitchPunk presented by SAQA

Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt: "a creative visual work that is layered and stitched or that references this form of stitched layered structure."

Our vision is that the art quilt is universally respected as a fine art medium. SAQA’s core values are: excellence, innovation, integrity, and inclusion.

Over the past 3+ decades, SAQA has grown into a dynamic and active community of over 4,000 artists, curators, collectors, and art professionals located around the world.

Come experience the history, flora and fauna of Lithia park in a guided tour led by knowledgeable and passionate volunteers.

Walks run every Saturday and Sunday morning at 10:00am, May through September. Sunday walks begin July 5.

Walks last 90 minutes, are FREE of charge, and are open to locals and visitors alike. Please meet your guide at the front entrance of Lithia Park across from the Plaza.

This program has been running since 1989, and is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in Ashland’s crown jewel.

Get a taste of the "old West" and Jacksonville's gold mining days when you step behind the counter of the oldest financial institution in the Pacific Northwest. The 1863 Beekman Bank Museum, located at 110 W. California Street in Jacksonville, saw over $40 million in gold cross its counters during the town’s heyday in the late 1800s—the equivalent of over $1.5 billion today. Interact with costumed docents sharing stories of late 19th Century banking practices, gold shipping, and handshake deals; step behind the counter and peer in drawers containing old checks, stage schedules, and paperwork; enter the vault that stored all those millions in gold!
Admission is FREE but donations are encouraged with all monies going towards the preservation and maintenance of this historic legacy!

Give yourself an afternoon of creative retreat time. We will use writing prompts and simple art exercises to explore the theme of healing in our lives and our writing. If you are interested in writing as a form of creative expression, working on a piece of writing, or simply curious about the possibilities, join us. This workshop includes writing prompts, simple art activities, and time for connection

American Legion Grants Pass Post 28 located at 206 NW F St @ 5th St, is having 9-Ball Tournaments every Sunday, starting May 10, at 1:00pm. Standard rules, with a $5.00 buy in for 5 rounds.

There will be food and drinks available for sale.

Free concert! LAST CHANCE to hear beloved Celtic, folk, and world music duo Four Shillings
Short.

Now on their FAREWELL TOUR, never to visit Curry* or Coos counties again. Come to
Dragonfly Farm & Nursery, just north of Langlois, Oregon (between Bandon and Port Orford) for
this open-air concert. Bring a chair or blanket and come be delighted. Food and drink
vendors here too. Say goodbye to these fabulous scholar-musicians, or hear them live for the
first time.

Sponsored by Friends of Langlois Public Library for your enjoyment. We thank the two
musicians for bringing beautiful music, and instruments both ancient and modern, to our rural
area for several decades.

*Friends of both Langlois and Port Orford Public Libraries brought Four Shillings Short here one
last time, so there are two more concerts on Tuesday July 28 at the Port Orford library. A kids’
educational music program is at 11 AM and the final Curry county concert is at 5:30 PM. Hope
you can come.

Pianist Iryna Kashkenov returns for this month’s Classical Vespers. Iryna did graduate work with Alexander Tutonov at SOU and plays piano with passion. In the hallway gallery see selections from the Blomquist Art Collection.

The finale of the Summer Music Festival includes the world premiere of Elena Ruehr's "Four Bird Songs," performed by Tom Stone and Sophie Shao. Using actual birdsong as the source material, Ruehr composed this four-movement work for the performers and for the Eureka Chamber Music Series. Rounding out the program is the boundary-breaking "String Quartet No. 11, Op. 95," the last of the "middle quartets" by Ludwig van Beethoven, performed by the Balourdet Quartet. The concert and the festival close with the texturally complex and expressive "String Sextet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 36" by Johannes Brahms.
