Mindy Smith took her first yoga class as a college elective and has been devoted to the practice ever since. She studied Vinyasa Yoga under renowned teacher Shiva Rea in Venice Beach, CA, and has been a full-time health education professor at West Los Angeles College since 2001. In 2008, she expanded her teaching to include semester long yoga electives for the kinesiology department.
Mindy's additional training includes pre and post natal yoga, yoga for children, and Mental Health First Aid. She has led college-wide workshops on yoga, meditation, and self-care for students, staff, and faculty alike.
In 2011, Mindy spent six transformative months traveling through India, where she studied Ayurveda—India’s traditional “science of life”—and deepened her understanding of yoga, breathwork, and meditation at the source. She integrates this ancient wisdom into her own teaching, creating a dynamic blend of modern science, anatomical alignment and traditional practice.

We have developed a comprehensive program consisting of four classes, each designed to address different stages and aspects of the healing journey.
Support - Meet others with a story to tell and realize that you are not a failure, and more importantly, you are not alone.
Transitions - After telling your story, it’s time to transition from the past and learn from it, forming a new "normal".
Boundaries - Figure out what an appropriate boundary is for family, friends, significant others, and even yourself.
Rebuilding - Work on building better relationships and a whole new life.

Every Tuesday in March at 10:00 AM, the North Bend Public Library invites the community to move, learn, and explore global cultures through “Many Lands, Many Dances,” a popular folk-dance class led by Stacy Rose. Each session introduces participants to folk dances from around the world, combining step-by-step instruction with traditional music and cultural context. Attendees will learn not only the dance techniques, but also the history and cultural significance behind each dance, creating a rich and engaging experience. The class is open to adults and teens of every ability level and is designed to be judgment-free and beginner-friendly. No special clothing or footwear is required. Participants may attend in person at the library or online via Zoom. Required orientation March 10 oe 14 for volunteers to help with Riding Beyond's programs with horses for spring, summer and fall 2026. Programs enlist the power of the horse/human connection for addressing trauma from breast cancer treatment, long COVID, wildfires, and other environmental trauma. No horse experience needed. Join multi-published Louisa Morgan as she facilitates a workshop for writers once a month. Louisa will illuminate one important element of writing and the writing life each meeting and the rest of the time will be spent workshopping. Novels, short stories, and memoirs are all welcome, as are all genres, from cozy romance to hard science fiction. New writers as well as experienced authors are encouraged to join in. The members will critique each other’s work, with emphasis on positive and supportive feedback. The workshop is designed to enhance skills for writers of any level. Beginners to early writers welcome!
Presenter Bio: Louisa Morgan (pseudonym for Louise Marley), has been publishing steadily since her first novel appeared in 1995. She is a three-time winner of the Endeavour Award, given for excellence in speculative fiction by a Pacific Northwest author. Previously trained as a classical singer, she performed with the Seattle Opera and Seattle Symphony. She taught voice and related subjects at Cornish College of the Arts and has toured the world as a soloist. She recently settled in Jacksonville and enjoys teaching introduction to writing to adults and teens.

Join watercolor artist and teacher, Carole Whitridge, for this fun class creating original watercolor paintings of delicious cupcakes. Learn basic food art techniques and practice with several variations. All materials and supplies are included.
In this beginner watercolor class, participants (ages 10+ to adult) will learn to paint smooth washes of color, paint gradients, skies, and water. We’ll use techniques such as lifting paint and adding highlights, to create beautiful, satisfying art. No additional costs.
Instructor Bio: Carole Whitridge combines her love of painting and travel to bring tranquil, accessible classes to her students. She has a deep respect for the art and history of East Asia and strives to bring some of these traditions to her own teaching practice. She teaches watercolor to regional youth and adults alike.
We are a Zen practice community in the Diamond Sangha lineage founded by Robert Aitken Rōshi. We provide zazen(meditation) instruction, weekly zazen, practice talks, Dharma discussions and more.

All are welcome to experience the joy of folk dancing, and enjoy wonderful live music this Friday in North bend. The North Bend Public Library, in partnership with the South Coast Folk Society, invites everyone to join the fun starting at 6:00 Friday evening, January 9th, in their Activity Room. This is the first in a series, so you don’t want to miss it. Folk Dance Night at the Library will be a regular monthly offering every second Friday at 6:00.
This free, social gathering is open to new and experienced dancers. Dance to live music from around the world played by skilled local musicians. Beautiful, beginner-friendly dances will be taught throughout the evening. They are fun to do, and easy to learn. If you can walk, you can folk dance, and folk dancing is so much more fun. Don’t be shy, give it a try.
There’s plenty of room for dancing in the spacious, newly remodeled, North Bend Library Activity Room. And, there is room to sit and enjoy live music when you take a moment to rest. Plus there will be refreshments available during the band break.This is an alcohol-free and fragrance-free public event. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
