Well-known author and climate champion Bill McKibben organized Sun Day Global Celebration to announce that solar and wind and batteries are the cheapest and cleanest sources of energy on the planet. In Eureka CA, this event will take place on Sunday, September 21, in the picnic area at Carson Park at Carson and H St. from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to live music, kids’ games, speakers and food carts, activities available include touring two fully electrified homes nearby, talking with electrification experts, and getting information about rebates and other financial incentives for buying energy-efficient appliances and transportation. The Ashland Culture of Peace Commission (ACPC), in collaboration with Southern Oregon University (SOU), will host a powerful community event in celebration of the United Nations International Day of Peace and ACPC’s 10th anniversary of visionary peace leadership.The event takes place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM PDT, at the World Peace Flame at the Thalden Pavilion, Sustainability Center, Southern Oregon University. All are welcome—families, students, global peace builders, and neighbors from all walks of life.The program will feature SOU President Rick Bailey as keynote speaker, with additional reflections from ACPC leaders and uplifting music by the beloved Ashland Peace Choir. This special gathering also highlights the world’s only solar-powered World Peace Flame, a living symbol of unity, hope, and environmental stewardship.Founded in 2015, the Ashland Culture of Peace Commission has become a beacon for both local and global peace building. Bring the whole family and spend a relaxing afternoon on Sunday, September 21st, when Ashland’s very own hula halau (school) Ka Pi’o O Ke Anuenue presents a Hawaiian cultural festival and hula show – Ashland Aloha Festival at Grizzly Peak Winery. Ashland Aloha Festival promises to have something for everyone – hands-on cultural workshops for all ages, live Hawaiian music, and an authentic hula show. Hawaiian plate lunch by Chef James Daw, and wine by Grizzly Peak will also be available for purchase.
Cultural workshops for all ages start at 2 pm and include lei-making with fresh flowers, hula lessons, ‘ukulele lesson with visiting musician Keale, plus ‘ohe kapala (traditional fabric stamping technique). Live music by award-winning musician Walt Keale, along with Chris Lau starts at 4 pm and the hula show featuring ancient style and contemporary hula begins at 4:30 pm. Gates open at 1:30 for All-Day Pass holders and 3:45 for Show only ticket holders.An All-Day Pass includes workshops, live music and hula show for $30 Adult and $15 Child/Youth (age 12 and under). Show-Only tickets for adults can be purchased in advance for $20 for or $25 at the event. Show-Only tickets for Child/Youth (age 12 and under) are $10. The hula presentation includes both the ancient style of hula, accompanied by live percussion and Hawaiian chant, and the modern style of hula, accompanied by live music from visiting musicians Walt Keale and Chris Lau. The ancient style hula will feature dances from the Pele and Hi’iaka legend, which depict dynamic elemental forces of the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes, as well as dances that honor royalty from the Hawaiian monarchy. The modern style hula dances will transport the audience to beloved places around the island diaspora, offering a visual and musical tour of Hawai’i's special land and people.Parking is limited, so please consider carpooling.

Adult Intermediate Drawing is the perfect course to level up your drawing skills. If you already have some basic drawing knowledge and you’ve been practicing or you’ve taken the Adult Intro to Drawing course, come join us! We’ll continue our drawing journey by learning things such as perspective, proportions, and playing around with different drawing tools.
This is a second phase drawing course- must have taken the Adult Intro To Drawing course, or have some background in drawing.

This class will present an intuitive approach to drawing the nude human figure. We will work from the model, incorporating gesture, observation and imagination to create drawings that enhance and develop your own creative style. Beginners as well as those with experience are welcome. In addition to doing exercises in class, we will look at great drawings of the past to discern the elements that make up their beauty. I will be available to offer guidance and direction as needed, and even homework if you desire.
