Did you know that most of Jacksonville's National Historic Landmark District is haunted? Join us for a 1-hour guided Haunted History walking tour and experience the spirits that linger in the town’s historic buildings. Our 6pm and 6:30pm Courthouse tour highlights brothels, epidemics and hangings; our 6:15pm Britt Hill tours share stories of murder, arson, saloons, and Chinatown. Both tours have lots of haunted houses. These tours are not your typical “ghost tours” with special effects. They are history tours about real hauntings resulting from past events. The stories come from people who have actually encountered these restless souls. Tours leave from the Jacksonville Visitors Center at the corner of North Oregon and C streets, cover about 1 mile, and last about 1 hour. Tickets are $10, tour size is capped, and reservations are encouraged. Walk ups are accommodated based on space available. For more information and reservations, visit https://www.historicjacksonville.org/haunted-history-tours/.

AIFF Monthly Film Series: The 9 Lives of Barbara DaneSaturday, October 11, 7:00 p.m. • Music Recital Hall at Southern Oregon University
Join us for our Monthly Film Series, featuring The 9 Lives of Barbara Dane!
For decades, Barbara Dane lent her stellar singing voice to social justice movements in the Bay Area and beyond, garnering an impressive FBI file along the way. Deeply respected by fellow luminaries in folk, blues, and jazz, Dane built a far reaching legacy with music, activism, and love. As Maureen Gosling’s celebratory portrait reveals, early solidarity with those suffering racial and economic injustice sparked Dane’s passion to use her talent to sustain marginalized people. Rather than chase stardom, she followed her own maternal instincts to root herself and her family among generations of activist performers. Bonnie Raitt, Jane Fonda, and other notables attest to Dane’s unique way of shaping and being shaped by tumultuous social revolutions from the 1950s on. Nearing ninety, Dane triumphantly tours with piano virtuoso Tammy Hall to celebrate a life of staying awake and connected, true to her ideals. One star among many illuminates so much.
To purchase tickets, please visit www.ashlandfilm.org/events. Free parking is available on South Mountain Avenue across from the entrance to the Music Building.
