The Cultural & Ecological Enhancement Network (CEEN) hosts its annual Acorn Festival celebrating everything oak and acorn related! October 18th, 11am to 6pm. Acorns have been an important food for centuries. Up to 40% of the local diet was acorns. Learn how to process acorns with hands on activities at this free, family friendly event. Lena Hurd, Yurok basket weaver, will cook acorn soup in a traditional basket. Scarecrow Contest free to enter at the Festival, check in by noon, $100 prize for the winner. Illinois Valley Art Council free craft table for kids of all ages. Free dinner with all things acorn at 5pm.
This year there has been a change of venue, the Acorn Festival will be at the Illinois Valley Highschool.

For kiddos 3+ - minors must be able to load a chairlift on their own or be able to load the lift with assistance from an accompanying adult.
