How Surprises Can Change Your Beliefs

Surprise!!

Having people pop up from behind the furniture and shout SURPRISE can change your day. 

But it's also possible that getting other kinds of surprises can change your mind, and permanently. 

Southern Oregon University Professor Michael Rousell has been exploring the effects of surprises. 

And he's found evidence that the right kind of surprise can lead people to change their beliefs.  We explore the belief/surprise connection in this interview.

Geoffrey Riley is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and marked his tenth anniversary as the full-time host of the Jefferson Exchange at the end of 2019. He's been a broadcaster in the Rogue Valley for 35 years, working in both television and radio.
