Making The Case Against A Gas Pipeline

Veresen, Inc.

Energy projects are often controversial to begin with.

But when the energy project involves a long pipeline carrying gas taken from the ground by fracking, it's just that much more contentious.

So while the Jordan Cove natural gas terminal and Pacific Connector gas pipeline already passed one level of environmental review, there's a lot more work ahead, and more to be said.

There'll be a lot of talking at a series of upcoming hearings around the region.

Southern Oregon Climate Action Now and Rogue Riverkeeper lead the opposition to the pipeline.

Reps from both groups visit with their reasons.

Upcoming FERC hearings:

• 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at SWOCC's Hales Performing Arts Center in Coos Bay
• 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at Umpqua Community College's Lang Center in Roseburg
• 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at Seven Feathers Casino-Hotel & Convention Center in Canyonville
• 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at Central Medford High School in Medford
• 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at Oregon Institute of Technology's College Union Auditorium in Klamath Falls
• 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at Malin Community Hall in Malin
