What better time than summer to celebrate the natural world? And who better to guide us than women writers?

That second question is answered by Katherine Aalto's book Writing Wild: Women Poets, Ramblers, and Mavericks Women Who Shape How We See the Natural World. The author's own training and experience is split between history, literature, and gardening.

The book celebrates 25 women who opened the door to the outside and led readers through it. We spend some time with the author and the people she wrote about.
