JPR Live Session: Shannon LaBrie

Ways To Subscribe

The Nashville singer/songwriter joined us from her childhood home in Nebraska to share music from her powerful new album called Building.

LaBrie started her lifelong connection with music as many do - at the piano, taking structured lessons. But after receiving a guitar as a present from her dad, the connection with the sound and freedom the guitar offered kicked off a newfound desire to write songs and perform.

Her new album Building has received rave reviews from NPR and American Songwriter, and was produced by multi-Grammy Award-winners, Brent Maher and Charles Yingling. She talked about how the songs came together for the record, and the relief she finds in getting her songs out in to the world. For our live session, she played an acoustic guitar with Oregon connections - a Bedell instrument made in Bend.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
