Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art (SMA) is thrilled to announce its upcoming exhibition, "Moving Pictures: A Survey Exhibition of Works by Deborah Oropallo and Collaborators." Opening April 18 at 5 p.m., the exhibition invites art enthusiasts to delve into the captivating world of Deborah Oropallo and witness her artistic evolution spanning montage, sculpture, installation, and media work.
More than just a retrospective, "Moving Pictures" amplifies Oropallo's artistic journey, shedding light on her significant contributions to contemporary art. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1954, Oropallo received her BFA from Alfred University and her MA/MFA from the University of California at Berkeley. Initially trained as a painter, she seamlessly integrates mixed media techniques such as photomontage, video, printmaking, and painting into her practice.

Join us at the Ashland library for our biweekly peer support creative writing workshop! Each participant will choose an excerpt from their project to read aloud and receive feedback from the rest of the group to help improve their work in a positive and collaborative environment.
Advance registration is requested but not required. Please bring a copy of your work to the library ahead of time if you need assistance printing extra copies.
The 2022 farmers market season opens in Siskiyou County Monday, May 16, from 3:30 to 6 pm on East Castle Street in downtown Mount Shasta. Mount Shasta Farmers’ Market is committed to providing a convenient way for community members to buy food directly from growers and producers in a beautiful outdoor setting with live music. An increasing variety of fresh produce, meats, plants, starts, baked goods, spring rolls, tamales, crafts and more will be available every Monday afternoon (except July 4th) until mid-October. MSFM is a Certified Farmers Market that offers free Market Match vouchers to spend on vegetables and fruit, up to $20 per market day, for CalFresh customers who purchase at least $20 in EBT tokens. The North Bend Public Library is teaming up with HIV Alliance to offer free Naloxone Training. Naloxone is a medication that prevents overdose by temporarily stopping the effects of opioids such as Heroin, Fentanyl, Codeine, Oxycodone, Methadone, etc. by allowing breathing to resume and reversing the overdose. Naloxone has been used for more than 40 years and is safe with no side effects. Naloxone is not addictive and has no potential for abuse. It is not a controlled substance and is available over the counter in 46 states. A free nasal naloxone kit will be available to each attendee! Naloxone training is on Monday, May 13 starting at 4:00 PM. Training is every half hour with the last session starting at 5:30 PM.
