This August, Kagyu Sukha Chöling begins a 2-month open community peace meditation; an invitation to join us over four Sundays this summer. Come join us in our serene sanctuary from 9:30-10:30 AM on Sundays August 3 & 17, September 7 & 21, where we will hold space for the contemplation of peace in all areas of our lives. There is no charge; KSC is dedicated to welcoming and supporting individuals at any stage of their spiritual journeys.

Fiber Artists Nani Pacal and Thalia Keple will continue to be featured artisans at Shepherd's Dream throughout the month of September. We feature both seasoned and up and coming artisans monthly and invite you to come to our Ashland Flagship Retail Showroom to view these amazing fine art works. Their unique one of a kind pieces, are a feast for the eyes, and have garnered collectors local, regional and nationally. Another co-sponsored event with Creatively Speaking.

The award-winning OSU Land Steward training helps landowners learn about their property and develop a management plan. This 11-week program covers critical topics like wildfire risk reduction, forests, soil health, wildlife habitat, pasture management, stream care, water capture and distribution, and much more.

Join JCC’s FREE Community-in-Action Forum as we invite local experts to share wisdom in areas of community concern to learn about causes, solutions and how we can make our community stronger.

Discover insights from Sam Engel, Executive Director of Rogue Retreat. He will define the root causes of homelessness and share how the organization’s client-focused programs empower individuals to overcome homelessness and reclaim their place in the community—building a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.

This forum will provide opportunities for attendees to ask questions and explore challenging topics.

This class will present an intuitive approach to drawing the nude human figure. We will work from the model, incorporating gesture, observation and imagination to create drawings that enhance and develop your own creative style. Beginners as well as those with experience are welcome. In addition to doing exercises in class, we will look at great drawings of the past to discern the elements that make up their beauty. I will be available to offer guidance and direction as needed, and even homework if you desire.

Members: $75, Non-members: $85

We are a Zen practice community in the Diamond Sangha lineage founded by Robert Aitken Rōshi. We provide zazen(meditation) instruction, weekly zazen, practice talks, Dharma discussions and more.

Calm Abiding Meditation
This meditation is common to many traditions of Buddhism. In this practice, we rest our attention on a simple meditative support, such as the breath. Instead of following thoughts and emotions as we usually do, we release them and maintain our connection to the support.

“From this practice, we can experience a stable and calm mind. We learn to maintain and return to a sense of stillness, no matter what our outer circumstances. The mind is relaxed, alert and aware. The results of this practice are serenity, freedom in the face of circumstances, and ultimately Buddhahood.”

There's no better place to understand Southern Oregon's railroad history than at the Medford Railroad Park and no one better to tell tales about railroad logging than Jerry Hellinga. In the early 1900s the railroad was the backbone of the logging industry, carrying millions of board feet from the dense forests of the Upper Rogue to the Medford mills.

This program is co-sponsored by the Eagle Point Historical Society and the Eagle Point Branch of Jackson County Library Services thanks in part to an Oregon Heritage grant to the Gold Hill Historical Society.
