It was a gnarly injury that derailed Beth Whitney's original path. She had been a budding softball pitcher, but during her recovery she picked up guitar to bide the time. It worked out pretty well. Eventually, some of her recordings hit the ear of the folks at Malamute Records, and in 2007 Beth and her husband (upright bassist Aaron Fishburn) recorded an album called Leave Your Shoes and promptly hit the road.
At the tail end of a year and a half of stay at home orders, Whitney admins that, though the isolation hasn't been a huge stretch considering where she calls home, she does miss the human interaction that comes from mingling and observing.
During our session, she talked about the first time she strummed a guitar, and the stories behind the songs on her new album Into The Ground. She also graced us with a few tunes from the new album performed with help from Fishburn.
