JPR Live Session: Robert Francis

Ways To Subscribe

Robert Francis is a multi-instrumentalist, Americana singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. As the youngest member of a music-filled household, Robert benefited from a diverse musical climate thanks to his late pianist/producer father, his songwriting sister Juliette Commagere, and his Mexican mother, who sang native ranchera songs around the house.

This musical upbringing eventually led to Francis's 2007 debut, the musically diverse One by One, at the young age of 19. Five more studio albums have followed. Robert's 7th studio album and his newest effort, Indian Summer was released in 2017 on Aeronaut Records.

Francis has performed at festivals such as Farm Aid, Bonnaroo, Hard Rock Calling and Summerfest. Along with headlining sold out shows throughout Europe and the U.S.A, he has also played The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and played with artists such as Noah and the Whale, The John Butler Trio, Portugal the Man, Saint Seneca, Drive By Truckers and Missy Higgins. His songs have been featured in movies and television including Deadfall, The Vicious Kind, Shameless, Gray’s Anatomy, Hemlock Grove, Chicago Fire and Brothers and Sisters.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
