Bottle Returns Return; Oregon Celebrates 50 Years Of 'Bottle Bill'

Golden Bottle Hunt
Bottle Return

Buy a drink, pay an extra dime. Finish the drink, return the bottle, get the dime back.

Oregon was the first state to enact a statewide bottle bill to keep the bottles and cans from littering the landscape.

Passage came 50 years ago, and the event is being celebrated. The Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative is putting on a hunt for golden bottles that can be redeemed for prizes.

We get an update on recent changes to the "bottle bill," including the post pandemic redemption resumption, from Jules Bailey, a former state legislator, now with OBRC.
