Communicable disease supervisor Jill Johnson draws out doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at the Deschutes County Public Health Department in Bend, Ore., Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021.

Mere minutes after our last on-air chat with Jackson County Health, the county's COVID case numbers for the previous two weeks were released. And they showed a decline, the first such downturn in several months, a hopeful sign after a long climb.

Soon after, Oregon's governor announced new vaccination targets to hit for counties to further reopen gathering spaces.

Dr. Jim Shames is the Medical Director at Jackson County Health and Human Services. He visits once a week to catch us up on COVID-19 issues and current concerns. Ask your question at 800-838-3760 or JX@jeffnet.org.
