Exchange Exemplar: The ABCs Of The Importance Of Bees

Bees still scare people. They do sting, after all, when provoked, and the threat of pain has led many people to whack bees or spray them or otherwise get rid of them.

But it's also much clearer now how important bees are to the world around us and the food we eat. Biologist Thor Hanson took an extended look at the animals and the many challenges facing them, in the book Buzz: The Nature and Necessity of Bees.
