One of them is the issue of "low-value care," visits and procedures that really do not do anything to improve the health of a patient. By some estimates, a quarter of what goes on in health care is of low value.
A recent report from the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Health Leadership Council tracks low-value care in Oregon, and finds more than half-a-Billion dollars spent over three years. We get into where the money was spent, and what might reduce the waste, in a conversation with Jill Leake of the OHLC and Dr. Dana Hargunani from OHA.
