Keeping women safe is a worthy cause, and has led to the creation of KAWS: Keeping Ashland Women Safe. Name and mission are one and the same, and KAWS trains women in the community in self-defense.

Another round of classes was planned for next week (July 24-25), but further COVID-19 restrictions forced a cancellation.

Alaya Ketani is the founder and Executive Director of KAWS, Karin Pedersen is a trainer and presenter.

They talk to us about what is emphasized in training, and how doing it online complicates the instruction.
