Child psychologist Abigail Gewirtz was already hard at work on her book when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

She had time to include the pandemic among the subjects in When the World Feels Like a Scary Place: Essential Conversations for Anxious Parents and Worried Kids.

Virus and other concerns in the daily news are bound to make some children nervous, and the book offers guidance for leveling with kids honestly, in ways that should help make them more resilient in the face of crises.

Dr. Gewirtz visits with samples of the advice she gives out.

LINK: the book was written before the pandemic, but there's advice on talking about it on Abigail's website.
