We'd like to think that the fire that destroyed most of Paradise, California was a one-in-a-million thing. But the conditions that led to the Camp Fire still exist in many parts of the region, and the drought is back this year.

A pair of Bay Area reporters who covered the Camp Fire and its aftermath extensively assembled a book on what they found. Fire in Paradise: An American Tragedy, is the story of the most destructive American wildfire in a century.

The book is based on hundreds of in-depth interviews with residents, firefighters and police, and scientific experts. Alastair Gee and Dani Anguiano visit to talk about their work.
