U2's Bono As Religious Figure

toddpoirier/Pixabay

Is the guy who sang "I Will Follow" actually a religious leader? You decide whether Bono of U2 fits the bill, after listening to Chad Seales, who teaches religious studies at the University of Texas (at Austin).

Seales is the author of the latest book in the "Religion Around" series, examining the intersection of figures in popular culture and spirituality. Seales' volume is Religion Around Bono: Evangelical Enchantment and Neoliberal Capitalism.

The thesis: neoliberal capitalism is a religion, and Bono its best-known celebrity revivalist. We explore the thesis in an interview with the author.
