Extended Forecast Shows Summer Might Be Cooler

Geoffrey Riley/JPR
Sunrise on June 25, 2019.

It is just a coincidence that we bring in a forecaster to talk about the next three months JUST as temperatures in the valleys of the region dip ten degrees or more below normal.  But it's an instructive coincidence, because Pete Parsons' Seasonal Climate Forecast (July through September) assumes a somewhat cooler summer than usual.

Pete Parsons is a meteorologist with the Oregon Department of Forestry.  And he reminds people that forecasting several months in advance can be a tricky science.  He visits with highlights of his forecast, and cautions about using the information.
