PERFORMING ARTS SOCIETY OF REDDING PRESENTS: PIANIST OLIVER MOORE
Oliver Moore, dramatic young pianist, winner of numerous awards, performer with local and other orchestras, and frequent PAS performer, will present "Magic of Chopin" with an immense variety of forms such as Impromptu, Scherzo, Nocturne, Mazurka, Ballade, Waltz, Etude and Sonata. Oliver currently studies with Garrick Ohlsson at the San Francisco Conservatory.
Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) revolutionized the possibilities of the piano. Born in Poland, he assimilated folk music of his homeland as well as music by masters J.S. Bach, Mozart, Italian opera composers, and salon composers. Composer Robert Schumann described Chopin's music as containing "cannons buried in flowers." On the surface, his music displays great refinement, beauty and charm, but underneath can be found deep passion and revolutionary fervor.
