TOPIC:  SHADE GARDENING: PLANTS AND TECHNIQUES

Our presenter for March is Master Gardener and landscape designer, Sherri Morgan. Sherri completed the Master Gardener program in 2008 and has since been an instructor in the Practicum portion of the program. Sherri has certificates in landscape design and construction from Merritt College Department of Landscape Horticulture. She is the owner of Morning Gardens Landscape Design. She loves to help students and clients learn about gardening and about design principles.

Program Description

Shade Gardening: Plants and Techniques

In this presentation, Sherri will discuss the advantages and challenges of gardening in the shade. She will discuss different conditions of shade, from dappled shade to dense shade. She’ll show examples of plants that can thrive in each condition. Sherri will also point out techniques for dealing with competing tree roots, and irrigation scheduling for plants growing under trees, in addition to irrigation needs of plants growing under eaves and against building walls.
