JPR Live Session: Elizabeth & The Catapult

Ways To Subscribe

The Brooklyn singer/songwriter joined us from her loft for a few tunes from her new album called sincerely, e, which was recorded in that very space.

For singer/songwriter Elizabeth Ziman, who for over a decade now has recorded as Elizabeth & The Catapult, the pandemic and it's associated social distancing led to a new recording project conceived of and recorded in Ziman's living room as a way to try and reach beyond the bubble of home to connect with others.

Elizabeth & The Catapult also performed numerous high-quality online stream performances over the last year that, while successful in many ways, still didn't quite achieve the kind of connection that live in-person performing does.

During our session, Elizabeth talked about her background in orchestration and film scoring, and how despite her proficiency on numerous instruments, her songwriting process starts with lyrical ideas. She also talked about the DIY-mindset that led to the new album called sincerely, e.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
