Cohousing as a remedy for homelessness

The Cohousing Company
Cohousing in Nevada City, California.

The standard in American housing is the single-family home.

But there are efficiencies and social benefits to sharing some spaces with other people, and these are emphasized in the "cohousing" model. Families live in separate dwellings, but share some facilities, like joint dining areas.

Charles Durrett, principle architect of The Cohousing Company, wrote several books about the lifestyle and joined us in the past to talk about them. His latest details cohousing as a remedy for homelessness in Napa County, California.

We catch up on cohousing in this visit to the JX.
