The big news from Afghanistan came in August: the United States announced a total troop withdrawal, the U.S.-supported government collapsed, and the Taliban took control again, after a 20-year absence.
But the end of U.S. involvement does not mean end of story; American veterans who served in Afghanistan may be having some difficulty coping during this holiday season. And the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs is attuned to the situation, ready to assist vets where and when they need help.
ODVA Director Kelly Fitzpatrick visits to talk about help for the Afghan-war vets, along with Campus Veteran Coordinator Joe Mah, himself a vet who served in Afghanistan.
