The long road from Uncle Sam to Superman, in a new book on comics

We just can't quit the comics. Even people who never pick up a newspaper, never peruse the daily cartoons, will find themselves in a theater, watching a movie about Marvel or DC superheroes.

There's a long history here... even before Superman and company, cartoons were used to tell stories, often about real people and events (think Thomas Nast and early political cartoons).

Jeremy Dauber, who joined us a few years ago to talk about his book on Jewish Comedy, takes up another iconic field of American entertainment in American Comics: A History.

Look, up in the sky: an author. Actually, we talk to him on the phone to get an overview of his work.
