Oregon's Measure 110 drug law feels growing pains
Voting yes or no was the easy part. And Oregon voters said yes, they do want to decriminalize drug possession (in small amounts), and beef up treatment.
That was Measure 110, passed in November 2020. A year later, organizations that treat people for substance abuse report a crisis situation, with too many people needing treatment, and not enough people to provide it.
Health Justice Recovery Alliance works to correct the situation; we check in with an alliance member to get a read on where things stand, and how the pandemic has affected the situation.
