Jackson County uses ShakeOut to test getting word out

No one can say for sure when an earthquake will hit the region. But we can state with some confidence when we will PRACTICE reacting to an earthquake.

The Great ShakeOut always takes place on the third Thursday in October.Jackson County Emergency Management has gotten into sync with the Great Oregon ShakeOut, testing its Citizen Alert system on ShakeOut day.

We talk with Emergency Manager Holly Powers about the process of signing up for alerts, and how people can use the Great ShakeOut to prepare for the time when the ground really does shake.
