Life at the (northern) end of the Earth

The subways in New York City stop a few blocks south of the northern city line. Which is fine by Laura Galloway, because she was heading seriously north when she left, to a place no subway would go. Or many people, for that matter.

Galloway ended up moving to join her boyfriend in a small Norwegian town north of the Arctic Circle. And then, after six months, the relationship ended.

Galloway decided to stay on, and tells the story of why, and what it was like, in her book Dálvi: Six Years in the Arctic Tundra. We get a taste of the experience--minus having to feel the actual cold--in a visit with the author.
