Exchange Exemplar: young women and horses - a love story

New York City mounted police officer to little girl: "don't say it."
Little girl: "don't say what?"
Horse cop: "I want a horse."

It would not be the first or the last time he heard that. Horses are magnets for females in our culture, perhaps even more than pro sports are for males.

Jean O'Malley Halley, sociologist and horse lover, decided to delve into the attraction, for the book Horse Crazy: Girls and the Lives of Horses.

We get into the heart of the relationship in this chat with the author from 2019.
