Fire and smoke are not constantly present on the landscape of our region. But concerns about nature and climate change tend to stick around.
A pair of artists from our region teamed up on a project to depict the natural world and the threats to it; Ashland painter Claire Duncan made paintings of birds and other wildlife, along with paintings of wildfires and other threats to the creatures. Ashland biologist and poet Pepper Trail composed poems on the same subject.
The fruits of the collaboration are on display at the Coos Art Museum through October 2nd, under the title Reflections on the Human Epoch. The artists join us for a conversation about their work and the concerns that drive it.
