UO Project Is Rethinking Streets For All Users

Untitled drawing (22).jpg
The most recent of three sets of case studies on Rethinking Streets, all are available from SCI for free.

"Don't play in the street," many a parent has told a child.

Streets are for cars and trucks, or were; now they frequently have lanes just for bicycles, and other amenities for people traveling in something other than single-person motor vehicles.

Rethinking Streets is the apt name for a project at the Sustainable Cities Institute at the University of Oregon. The project has put out several publications, including a recent one envisioning changes to streets brought about by COVID-19.

Marc Schlossberg is the co-director at SCI; he and some transportation activists visit to explore new ways to think about our concrete-and-asphalt arteries.

Our conversation predates a webinar set for August 19th at 7 PM featuring Dr. Schlossberg.
