The Global Nature Of The #MeToo Movement

The #MeToo movement didn't start with Harvey Weinstein. In fact, the short phrase that became a hashtag on social media was first uttered in regard to sexual abuse before hashtags even existed.

Sexual abuse is old in time and wide in space, a fact accentuated in the book Awakening: #MeToo and the Global Fight for Women's Rights.

Co-authors Rachel Vogelstein and Meighan Stone followed the movement outside the United States, telling the stories of women fighting for equality and against abuse in countries ranging from Tunisia to Brazil.

Meighan Stone is our guest in discussing the global form of #MeToo.
