UC-Davis Works On Fire-Resistant Housing Materials

Dr. Michele Barbato

Rogue Valley residents are moving into homes rebuilt since the Almeda Drive fire of September 2020.

So far, most of the new homes are built of the same materials to the ones being replaced: wood.

But other options exist, and are being explored at the Climate Change Adaptation Center at the University of California-Davis.

Would you live in a house made of mud, or compressed earth blocks?

Before you decide - give a listen to what's being researched. Environmental and Civil Engineer Dr. Michele Barbato, CCAC co-director, visits.
