A woman basketball player at the University of Oregon created a viral video showing the differences between facilities for men and woman at the NCAA basketball tournament this spring.

A few weeks later, German women gymnasts began wearing full-body suits that covered their legs, unusual in their sport. Probably neither event surprised Julie DiCaro, who has been writing about sexism in sports for a long time.

She takes up the subject in a recent book, Sidelined: Sports, Culture, and Being a Woman in America. We get into events both distant and recent that display the very different attitudes toward male and female athletes. Still.
