New homes rise near the rubble of the Almeda fire, March 2021.

There is progress to report on the clearing and rebuilding of homes destroyed by the September fires in our region. But things can't happen fast enough for families that have already spent more than half a year waiting to move into permanent homes.

FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, plays a role in long-term rebuilding, and in the short-term housing of fire victims. We continue an irregular set of visits with FEMA reps to keep up with news on the housing and rebuilding front.

Listen for a progress report on post-fire restoration from FEMA's Paul Corah.
