Grassroots Group Forms To Boost Wildland Firefighters
Even if you think you could stay awake for 24 hours straight, do you think you could fight a wildfire for that long? This is what the job demands sometimes, more frequently in this age of larger and more destructive fires.
Active and retired federal wildland firefighters got together in 2019 to form Grassroots Wildland Firefighters, to push for better pay and benefits and working conditions for their fellow workers. They have the attention of members of Congress from both parties, through the Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus.
