Even before the pandemic, a lot of workplaces ran lean, not having a lot of backup for critical tasks and positions. Maybe you've been asked "what happens if you get hit by a bus?"

Maybe someone else can explain why a bus, but Abby Schneiderman wants you to be able to answer that question. That's why she and Adam Seifer set up a business, Everplans, and wrote a book outlining the philosophy of the business: In Case You Get Hit by a Bus: How to Organize Your Life Now for When You're Not Around Later.

It's about your personal life more than your work life, a way to provide for life to go on for the people close to you if yours is suddenly upended. Abby Schneiderman visits with some of the points to keep in mind when planning for your own absence.
