A man walks through a neighborhood destroyed by the Almeda Fire in Talent, soon after the fire.

The deadline for people affected by the September fires in our region to apply for help from FEMA came and went. Even with an extension, the last date to apply for federal assistance was November 30th.

All is not lost, though. FEMA is still present in the region, and available to help fire victims in a number of ways.

Media rep Jassiel Olivero visits with news of what's there, and how to access it.

Several phone numbers were given, in addition to disasterassistance.gov:

  • Main FEMA number to apply or ask questions: 800-621-3362
  • Number to appeal if FEMA rejected your application: 800-452-7636
  • Crisis counseling offered through Oregon Health Authority: 800-923-4357
  • Disaster Distress Helpline, federal: 800-985-5990
