Valentin Vermeulen is an investigator, but a reluctant one. He's not really cut from the same bolt of cloth as James Bond; the only thing they really share is that they are both fictional characters.

Vermeulen is a character created by Ashland novelist Michael Niemann, who has now written five books about the auditor-turned-crime solver. In the latest, Percentages of Guilt, Vermeulen has to solve a crime in which he is implicated.

Michael Niemann returns to the JX to talk about his latest work, and the fun of creating an entire life for a character.
