It will still be a working ranch and a productive forest, but Butte Creek Ranch northeast of Mount Shasta now has some other jobs.
Pacific Forest Trust and the owners, the Hart family, agreed on a permanent conservation easement on the property, which covers nearly 3500 acres. The easement will prevent the ranch from being broken up or developed, and will enhance its contributions to Butte Creek, a tributary of the Klamath River.
We hear the features of the easement and how it was agreed upon in this interview with Laurie Wayburn, PFT's executive director, and Susan Hart from the ranch.
