Brian Walsh was 17 years old and excited to be working as a firefighter.
He quickly met with tragedy when he was trapped in a burning building, his face disfigured by third-degree burns. Even people he loved tried to talk him out of getting into a job where he'd work in front of people.
Brian ignored that advice, started work in the insurance industry, and never looked back. He eventually moved into wealth management and philanthropy, and now he brings his full story into focus in a book, Beyond the Mask: How My Tragedy Sparked an Incredible Life: Lessons I Might Never Have Learned.
We visit with the author about those lessons.
