July is normally a time of major events, here and around the country. But COVID-19 and the need to avoid large gatherings put the kibosh on most July 4th gatherings, and constraints on many arts events remain in place.
Within those constraints, arts producers are finding ways to put on events anyway, and we welcome the chance to publicize those in our First Friday Arts segment.
One little issue: July 3rd, Friday, is a federal holiday. And rather than buck a strong tide, we decided to take the day off, too. So call it "First Friday Arts on Thursday," if you like.
We invite arts organizations and musicians around the region to share details of their events live on the radio, and send songs in advance. You can join the party with a phone call: 800-838-3760. We get an idea of what's cooking before the holiday weekend arrives.
This month's callers:
- Oregon Cabaret Theatre, Ashland
- Liberty Arts, Yreka
- Collaborative Theatre Project, Medford
- Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ashland (With Rob Goodwin!)
- Manila Sand Sculpture Festival, Humboldt County
