We get a kick out of watching birds. Sometimes they do things that look actually human, while other times... it's just hard to figure out.

Jennifer Ackerman, long a science writer, takes up the similarities and differences in the book The Bird Way: A New Look at How Birds Talk, Work, Play, Parent, and Think.

Some bird behaviors are unique to our flying friends. Others bear a remarkable resemblance to human actions, from the good to the gruesome.

Reading this book may prevent you from ever using the term "bird brain" again.
