Oregon's New Poet Laureate Pays A Visit

Tristan Paiige

Words are very important right now. Maybe because actions are so limited by COVID-19 restrictions, words have gained in importance.

A master of words just assumed a new set of duties: Anis Mojgani was named Oregon Poet Laureate in the last week of April.

He'll be responsible for publicizing poetry and its virtues across Oregon. That usually involves a series of public events, which are not happening while physical distancing is important.

Anis Mojgani visits the JX by phone to talk about what he can do now, and what he wants to do with his stint at the 10th Poet Laureate of the state.
