Two-Way: BLM Changes Hamstring Regional Advisory Councils
Decision-making processes at the Bureau of Land Management have for years been assisted by Regional Advisory Councils and Committees (RACs). The decisions have a great bearing on Oregon, where BLM owns more than 15,000,000 acres of land.
But the Trump Administration set out to review and/or reconfigure RACs, and in Oregon, several have not met for two years or more. Which means money which might go to local communities is at risk of being taken back to Washington, DC. OPB environmental reporter Jes Burns visits from our newsroom with an overview of the situation.
